GTA VI: The Album vs. the Original Score — Two Different Records, Explained

GTA VI's music rollout comes in two pieces, and Rockstar has announced both in the last two months. They have similar names, different jobs, and different release dates — so let's separate them cleanly.

Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album — out November 19

Announced September 17 with Atlantic Records, The Album is the big multi-artist record: 34 original tracks made for Vice City and Leonida, released the same day as the game. The first six singles are already streaming, the record is up for pre-save, and limited-edition vinyl and CD sets are available to pre-order. The launch trailer's debut track, “Flower in a Hurricane” with Tame Impala, SZA, and King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, is headed here. Think of The Album as the soundtrack record — songs built to define the city's sound.

Grand Theft Auto VI: Original Score — out December 11

Announced October 29, the Original Score is something else entirely: the game's composed underscore by French duo Justice, released as its own album on December 11. It collects 30 tracks plus digital bonus cuts across streaming, a double CD, and a triple vinyl edition. This is the adaptive music designed to shift with how you move through Jason and Lucia's story — tension in a chase, air in a quiet Keys drive. The first single, “Pusher,” a first-ever Justice collaboration with Gesaffelstein, is out now.

And a third layer: the radio itself

Separate from both records, the in-game radio dial is its own system. Rockstar has previewed the first six stations — Cocoteo FM, Back Country Radio, AfroBank FM, The Chamber 106.6, Flash FM, and Dirty South Classics — plus a series first: on-demand podcasts, and the ability to keep listening on foot through Jason and Lucia's smartphones. The Album, the Score, and the radio overlap in places, but each is its own release with its own purpose.
